VERNDALE, Minn. (KFGO) โ The Wadena County Sheriffโs Office says a car crashed into a school bus near Verndale Thursday morning.
The initial report said that at least one person was trapped in one of the vehicles. Deputies and Verndale Firefighters arrived to find a car, driven by a 16-year-old girl, that had crashed into the rear of a Verndale school bus. There were two other juveniles, ages 9 and 15, in the car. The two were transported to the Wadena hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The school bus was stopped to pick up students when the car crested a hill and hit the back of the bus. The sun was believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. No students were boarding the bus when the crash happened.
Another bus responded and transported 20 students to the Verndale school, where they were evaluated for injury by school employees. One other student was taken to the hospital by private vehicle for minor injuries.
An investigation is underway.
