BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) โ North Dakota lawmakers amended a resolution recognizing pornography as a health hazard. The resolution had already passed in the senate.
The original resolution claimed that being exposed to sexually explicit content poses health risks and that early exposure leads to low self-esteem and body image disorders.
It also said that porn can lead to brain development complications and sexual addiction, and that having sexually explicit content readily available has resulted in โsocietal problems.โ
โI think itโs 18 states since 2016 that declared pornography to be a public health matter and this would add that,โsaid Christopher Dodson for the North Dakota Catholic Conference. โHopefully it would be a start of a look that we can do to our state and how to address the problem.โ
The committee voted to amend the resolution and ask for a study to determine how porn affects people and if the state should take action.
