ST. PAUL – The biggest item on the state legislature’s agenda is coming up with a budget.
DFL Caucus Leader Erin Murphy says it will take time to come up with common ground, but the Senate is not wasting any time talking about it.
She says the early days of a budget session are all about moving to that budget. She says they’ll review the information coming from the agencies and hear from them about their priorities as they wait for the February forecast.
The Senate has a power-sharing agreement between Democrats and Republicans with no current majority in the Senate.
The DFL and Republicans both have 33 seats, pending the outcome of a special election in less than two weeks.
