BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – U.S. and state flags are being flown at half-staff in North Dakota to honor former President Jimmy Carter who died Dec. 29.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong ordered the flags lowered for 30 days, but now says they should be raised to full staff on Monday to celebrate the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump.
“The inauguration of a U.S. president is a time to celebrate, and the Stars and Stripes should fly high as a symbol of freedom and democracy,” Armstrong says. “We will continue to honor the life and legacy of President Carter, as we should, by returning the flags to half-staff on Jan. 21 as a mark of respect and reverence.”
