ORTONVILLE, Minn. (KFGO KWAT) – A close call Thursday for three men on Big Stone Lake north of Ortonville.
The Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office says the men were on a side-by-side pulling a fish house when they drove over an ice heave and broke through the ice near rustling elms resort just after 11:30 a.m.
The three men were able to evacuate the vehicle before it became fully submerged. They were wet and cold, but were able to get to a nearby residence for help. The fish house became partially submerged.
The sheriff’s office says removing the side-by-side and fish house is expected to take a few days.
