GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. (KFGO) – Sen. John Hoeven says the U.S. Space Force has awarded a nearly $10 million contract modification to General Dynamics.
The modification is to advance the Space Networking Center and satellite mission at Grand Sky Park on the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Hoeven says the funds will be used to test and develop a data traffic network serving the low-earth orbit satellite mission.
“This funding, and the work that General Dynamics is doing, is another example of how we’re leading the way forward in terms of developing our military capabilities in space to make sure we stay ahead of China, or any other adversary,” Hoeven says.
Hoeven says the project will lay the groundwork for missions to begin using the satellite communications network and solidify Grand Forks’ role supporting military operations around the world.
