ADAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Highway Patrol says a three-vehicle crash in Reeder, North Dakota seriously injured six people and nine others received minor injuries.
The crash happened Thursday afternoon at the junction of Highway 12 and Highway 22. There were high winds and blowing snow and sleet at the time.
A semi northbound attempted to stop at a stop sign at an intersection, slid, and jackknifed. Two vans carrying children could not stop in time to avoid the semi. One hit the semi and the other rear-ended the trailer the other van was towing.
Many of the injured are children. The occupants were taken to hospitals in Hettinger and Bowman. Four injured were later transported to a Rapid City, South Dakota hospital. The semi-driver, from California, was not injured. The two vans were traveling from Alberton, Montana to Mclaughlin, South Dakota.
The crash is under investigation.
