Singing “Winter Wonderland” with snow in sight sure is nice, but what about in the summer heat?
For Keith Urban, singing yuletide tunes in the blazing heat is something he remembers all too well from growing up Down Under.
“We still love going to the beach at Christmastime as long as we’re in Australia. Really, because it’s like the Fourth of July. It’s huge. Everybody’s out. It feels very celebratory. It’s in the ’90s and it’s crazy,” Keith shares in a press interview.
“But having grown up with that, it feels very natural to me,” says the New Zealand-born Aussie native. “We still had all of the same Christmas songs, so we’re in like 90-degree heat with shorts and tank tops singing ‘walking in a winter wonderland.’ I remember getting Christmas cards of Santa on a surfboard, so that probably explains a lot.”
Keith’s recently announced High And Alive World Tour kicks off May 22 in Orange Beach, Alabama, and wraps Oct. 17 in Nashville. He’ll also return to Australia for shows in August.
