EXCELSIOR, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – A jury awards an Excelsior couple more than $1 million over a misread vasectomy result that ended with the couple welcoming a baby boy.
Steven and Megan Szlachtowski conceived four years after Steven’s vasectomy.
The defendant, Minnesota Urology, admitted a triage nurse told Szlachtowski his post-surgical semen sample was negative, when it was actually positive.
The jury was asked to consider the cost of raising a child to the age of 18, as well as costs associated with the mother’s pregnancy and delivery, along with emotional costs to the couple.
The Szlachtowski’s have three other children.
