
FARGO (KFGO) โ Fargo Cass Public Health is urging parents to vaccinate their children for pertussis after a spike in cases. The virus is commonly called whooping cough. Since August 1, 15 cases have been reported in Cass County.
Whooping cough is one of the most common vaccine-preventable diseases in the US. Symptoms include violent coughing fits, fever, and nasal discharge. They can develop up to 21 days after exposure.
Anyone with symptoms should stay home and see a doctor.
41 cases have been reported in Cass County this year. The average is 6-8 cases per year.
