MOORHEAD (KFGO) – There was a shootout shortly after 7 p.m.Wednesday, August 7th at a home in south Moorhead.
Officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers learned two parties had exchanged gunfire. Through the investigation, it is believed that two parties known to each other had a property dispute at a residence in the 1000 block of 14th Street South that evolved into a physical altercation.
One of those involved began to leave in a vehicle, and an exchange of gunfire took place between an individual in the vehicle and an individual at the residence.
Those who left the scene in the vehicle called 911 to report the shooting. The van was located in the 3000 block of 20th Street South, where officers detained two men. Another man was detained at the house.
One of the suspects, 45-year-old Tamorris Mcquill Dempsey was arrested on three counts of 2nd degree assault, three counts of drive-by shooting, and three counts of discharge of a firearm. Investigators are still busy and meeting with the county attorney’s office regarding charges .
There were no reports of any injuries from the gunfire; however, some property damage occurred in the area from stray bullets. It is believed all firearms used in the shooting have been recovered.
The investigation is still active. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Patrol assisted the Moorhead Police Department.
