WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Biden, trying to downplay concern over his performance in last week’s debate with former President Donald Trump, plans a meeting today (Wed) with the Democratic Governors Association and its chairman, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He will reportedly be among those at the White House.
Walz, while surveying the damaged Rapidan Dam near Mankato Tuesday, said that in a routine meeting Monday, the governors were discussing other issues, including wildfires and flooding, and then talk turned to the president, and “what was a poor performance in last Thursday’s debate.”
Walz said governors were asking, “What is the plan? …How are we going to message this?”:
Walz said he doesn’t think anybody sugar-coats this… but he believes the question is, “How does that impact how the country runs? How does it impact what an election looks like? And again, it’s about the differences and the binary choice that we’re going to face in November.”
