WASHINGTON – The remains of a 19-year-old Minnesota sailor killed in the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor are coming home after more than 80 years.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that Navy Fire Controlman 3rd Class William Gusie of Stillwater was accounted for on Sept. 23, 2021.
Gusie was among the 429 killed when Japanese torpedoes hit the USS Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941. He was identified using dental and DNA analysis and will be buried on June 12 in Minneapolis.
