GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) โ Some Grand Forks residents were forced to shelter in place from a large ammonia leak at Simplot.
The leak was reported just after 7:30 Saturday night at the Simplot at 3630 Gateway Drive. Firefighters found high levels of ammonia outside the building, and across the street in a residential neighborhood.
Grand Forks Police shut down Gateway Drive, and asked residents in the affected area to stay inside. The fire department confirmed the houses didnโt have ammonia inside.
Firefighters and Simplot employees were able to stop the leak and ventilate the building.
The shelter in place was lifted shortly after.
