FARGO (KFGO) – The driver of a motorcycle was taken to a Fargo hospital by Sanford Ambulance after being struck by a Fargo fire truck late Friday morning.
North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Kristjan Helgoe says the 37-year-old man driving the motorcycle suffered serious injuries.
The crash happened in the northbound lane of 45th Street S. just north of 40th Avenue shortly after 11:30 a.m.
The Highway Patrol says the motorcycle driver merged into the fire truck’s lane, and sideswiped the fire truck.
“Fargo Fire was responding to a structure fire, so they had their emergency lights on,” Helgoe says. “They were northbound. [The] motorcycle was northbound as well, and as they proceeded through the intersection, there was a collision between the motorcycle and the fire truck. That’s when the bike got laid over.”
Fargo Police, fire personnel and the State Patrol were on the scene.
