ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (KFGO) – An Elbow Lake man has made his first court appearance in the shooting death of his brother in Elbow Lake.
A judge set bail at $1 million for 30-year-old Connor Grytdahl. He’s charged with second-degree murder for the Sunday night shooting death of Stephen Grytdahl, 33, at their home.
Connor Grytdahl told Grant County deputies who responded to the home that Steven was drinking in violation of his probation, and they agreed to separate for the night.
Later, the complaint says the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from Connor who said he shot his brother after he came at him aggressively during an argument.
Connor claimed that he was between eight and 12 feet away from his brother when he fired. Law enforcement’s initial search of the home did not reveal any signs of a struggle, and the location of the shell casing was not consistent with Connor’s version that the deadly shot was fired in the hallway.
Grytdahl remains in the Wilkin County jail in Breckenridge.
