WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has released names related to an officer-involved shooting in Willmar last Sunday.
The shooting happened after officers responded to a residence where a 911 caller said they had been threatened with a knife.
Investigators say officer Michael Holme was talking to the suspect, 33-year-old Jerry Jones, when Jones went through the doorway and charged at Holme with a knife. Holme fell backwards and Jones stood over him, slashing at him.
Police say Holme gave repeated commands for Jones to stop before shooting him. Jones ran, but was arrested a short distance away.
Jones was taken to the hospital in Willmar and later transferred to a larger hospital.
Holme had minor injuries.
