MOORHEAD, MINN. – Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead is the latest school in the state to offer cannabis certificate programs. Students can earn certificates in cannabis cultivation, retail, extraction, and product development. Each online program is nine weeks long and costs 750 dollars.
M State is partnering with cannabis education company Green Flower, which will provide instruction and training. St. Cloud State University and St. Paul College also have cannabis certificate programs.
GL Tucker, Executive Director of M State’s Workforce Development Solutions, says cannabis is a fast-growing industry, and that there’s a need for skilled cannabis workers and entrepreneurs. He says new certificates create a pathway for people to enter the workforce and fill that need.
Daniel Kalef, Green Flower’s Chief Growth Officer, says, “Like other highly regulated industries, the need to have expertise in material handling, quality control, patient care, security, transportation, horticulture and more, is vital to the success of all aspects of the industry, and all things people will learn in these programs.”
