MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota police issued a warning Thurs. morning that a man threatened to shoot people on its Twin Cities campus.
The threat originated on social media. A post on Facebook said ” Here we go AMERICA, I’m heading out from Watson, Minnesota to the U of M Minneapolis to start killing kids,” said the message in part. The 41-year-old man was later located at his home in Chippewa County.
Students are still on break, so there are very few on campus. There are many staff members and faculty on campus. Employees were urged to work from home.
U of M Police said there was no indication to suggest that the person was anywhere near campus. However, police had been urging caution until more information was available. Extra officers were on campus.
