FARGO (KFGO) – A man wanted for murder in Washington state is in the Cass County Jail after a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon for an equipment violation on I-94 near Mapleton west of Fargo.
20-year-old Joseph Morrison had a warrant out for his arrest for first-degree murder in Des Moines, Washington.
A state trooper made the stop. During a search of the car, a handgun was discovered, disassembled and hidden. The slide of the gun had been modified that could turn it into a fully automatic weapon. A woman was with Morrison at the time. She was arrested for possession of a machine gun and for giving false information to law enforcement.
Detectives from Washington state were expected to travel to Fargo to interview Morrison.
