KITTSON COUNTY, Minn. (KFGO) – A Canadian Pacific-Kansas City (CPKC) train collided with a truck trailer hauling grain at a crossing on County Road 70 in northwestern Minnesota Tuesday evening.
Kittson County Emergency Director Scot Olson tells KFGO News the two crew members from the locomotive, and the truck driver were injured and taken to hospitals in Hallock, Minnesota, and Cavalier, North Dakota. Their conditions are not available.
Olson says the trailer was wrapped around the front of the locomotive. Several train cars derailed but didn’t tip over and a section of rails were torn up. A large amount of grain was also spilled when the trailer was struck by the train. The truck was not hit. There are signs at the rail crossing.
Olson says crews were on site overnight making repairs to the tracks and getting the train back online.
The crash is several miles from Noyes, Minnesota, a crossing at the Canadian border and about a mile from the North Dakota border.
