WEST FARGO (KFGO) – West Fargo Fire’s K-9 Mika is getting suited up with new protective gear.
K-9 Mika will receive a bullet- and stab-protective vest thanks to a donation from the nonprofit, Vested Interest in K9s.
Mika is the department’s only K-9, and is an accelerant detection dog who goes into buildings suspected of arson.
The vest will weigh around five pounds and will be embroidered with the words, “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always.” It should arrive within the next eight to 10 weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s. has provided over 5,127 vests to K9s in all 50 states since it was established in 2009.
