WASHINGTON – Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar is co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation that requires automakers to continue putting AM radios in their new vehicles at no extra charge.
Specifically, the AM for Every Vehicle Act would direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a rule requiring automakers to keep AM radio in vehicles at no extra charge, and require an automaker that sells a vehicle without AM capability before the regulation goes into effect to clearly disclose that the vehicle does not have AM radio.
The bill is supported by the FCC, the National Association of Broadcasters and National Association of Farm Broadcasters.
