HARWOOD, N.D. (KFGO) – Cass County engineer Jason Benson says we’ve been fortunate that area rivers haven’t had the crests that were initially forecasted.
In Kindred, the Sheyenne crested several feet lower than last year and there’s not as much overland flooding.
The National Weather Service had forecasted a Top-5 crest of 91.5 feet for the Sheyenne River in Harwood, but they’ve lowered that to 91.1 feet.
“We’ve just gotten really lucky timing-wise that the different river systems haven’t timed with high peaks all at the same time in that Harwood area,” Benson said. “So, it does look like maybe we won’t see as high of a crest.”
Friday morning, the Weather Service lowered the crest forecast for the Red River in Fargo to 31 feet.
