ST. PAUL, Minn. – Gov. Tim Walz is taking his administration’s stance on a national stage, installing a Little Free Library in the anteroom of his State Capitol office. He said, “for every book you ban in Iowa and Florida, we’ll put ten of them out in Minnesota.”
Walz went on to say there are people that want to make it more difficult to get the “Lord of the Flies” than it is to get an AR-15.
“The First Amendment is healthy and strong in Minnesota and books are not going to be banned in Minnesota. We trust our librarians, our teachers, our parents and the simple advice on this is, if there is a book you don’t like, don’t read it,” he said.
The press secretary for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, indicates only pornographic and inappropriate books are being removed from that state’s schools. They told Walz it’s strange that a governor puts out pornography in a library outside his office.
