FARGO (KFGO) – A quick-thinking security guard prevented what appears to be an attempted armed robbery at a Fargo jewelry store Wednesday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., several suspects approached Gunderson’s Jewelry at 5601 28th Avenue S. and at least one of the suspects displayed a gun.
According to the Fargo Police Department, the security guard locked the doors and the suspects got back into their vehicle and fled southbound on Veterans Boulevard. The vehicle is a four-door dark sedan.
Several schools including Sheyenne High, Liberty Middle School, Trinity, Freedom and Independence elementary schools were locked down for a short time after the incident, but West Fargo Police Chief Denis Otterness said there was no threat to any of the schools.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call or (701) 476-4098, or text FARGOPD and the tip to 847411.
