FARGO (KFGO) – A bakery fire forced an evacuation of Osgood Hornbacher’s Tuesday evening.
Fire crews were called to a report of a fryer on fire at the Hornbacher’s store located at 4151 45th Street S. in Fargo around 5:40 p.m.
Battalion Chief Dane Carley said when firefighters arrived, they could see an unusual amount of smoke coming from the exhaust on the roof of the building above the fryer.
“The store was filling up with smoke,” Carley said. “So, we had a crew go inside and knock down the fire in the bakery. We had another crew go inside and start evacuating anybody that was inside.”
Around 6:15 p.m., crews were still on scene trying to get the smoke out of the store. Carley said that was taking time because of the high ceilings.
No injuries were reported, but one person was affected by smoke. That person refused treatment. Sanford Ambulance was standing by.
Carley said damage was limited to the bakery area and is estimated around $20,000.
