FARGO (KFGO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s deputy who challenged incumbent sheriff Jesse Jahner for the top job in the election, will not be re-appointed to his position in 2023, the department announced this morning. Jahner says he doesn’t believe Mat King supports his administration’s mission, vision, and values.
The statement from the Sheriff’s department goes on to say the elected Sheriff holds the responsibility of appointing deputies to serve under their authority in the State of North Dakota and Jahner places high expectations upon every deputy to serve and protect the citizens of Cass County.
King’s last day will be December 31st, 2022. He garnered just 20% of the vote in the head-to-head race against Jahner for Sheriff earlier this month.
