FARGO (KFGO KVRR) – Fargo’s Amazon Fulfillment Center is celebrating one year in Fargo. More than 600 employees work at Fargo’s Amazon center, the largest building in the state at 1.2 million square feet, the size of 22 football fields.
General Manager of Fargo Amazon, Martin Purdy, said there haven’t been many obstacles in the first year of operations. He said in the past year, the biggest effort was getting inventory into the facility. Over the past year, they’ve been able to bring in about 3.3 million unique items and have shipped out 2.3 million items to customers.
Amazon employees have started unionizing in warehouses across the country but there has been no talk about unionizing at Fargo’s center.
Amazon spokesperson Paul Flannigan said the employees have a choice whethe they want to join a union but as a company, “we don’t think unions are the best answer for our employees.”
