TOWER CITY, N.D. (KFGO) – An unoccupied tow truck that was stopped in the right lane on Interstate 94 near Tower City in western Cass County was struck by an SUV about 9 p.m. Saturday. A woman, a passenger, was killed.
The state patrol says the flatbed tow truck had a mechanical issue and was stopped on the highway. The tow truck driver called to have his vehicle towed and received a ride from the scene. A westbound SUV rear-ended the truck and both vehicles came to rest in the ditch. A Bismarck woman, who was in the front seat, was dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old man who was driving the SUV and two juvenile passengers suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized in Fargo. They are also from Bismarck.
A GoFundMe has been started for the Hagerott family.
