BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. – Students playing spring sports in Minnesota will no longer have to wear masks during outdoor games and meets.
The Minnesota State High School League announced the new health guidance Thursday.
Athletes are only allowed to take off their masks when “actively engaged” in competition. Students still have to wear face coverings on the bench, sidelines, or dugout. Masks are required for all coaches, referees, and spectators.
The league asked the Minnesota Department of Health to review its proposed policy last week.
