Brooklyn Center, Minn. – A man died yesterday after an encounter with police in Brooklyn Center. Police say during a traffic stop the man was determined to have an outstanding warrant and officers tried to take him into custody. As he tried to get back into his vehicle an officer fired his gun, striking the man identified by his mother as 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
Wright was able to get into the car and drive away, eventually crashing. He died at the scene of that crash. In the aftermath, crowds went from peaceful to uncontrolled. Authorities say more than 20 stores were looted.
