A TikTok trend involving capturing seagulls with beach towels is sweeping the world.

Basically, you cover yourself up with a beach towel so the birds can’t see you. On top of the beach towel, you place some potato chips. When the seagull lands on the towel to get the chip, you flip the towel over it and catch it.

A seagull researcher said the trend poses a risk to the birds’ safety. She said, ’The person doing the trapping can’t see the bird and could knock the bird out or break a wing with their arms.’
