WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – After less than three years, West Fargo Police Chief Heith Janke is leaving the department. Janke says he’s accepted an opportunity to be reinstated as a special agent with the FBI.
“It has been a great honor to lead the West Fargo Police Department and I thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to lead such a phenomenal team,” Janke said. “I have never met a group of individuals who are so committed to serving their community and I have no doubt they will always continue to proudly protect and serve.”
Janke was appointed in July 2017. His resignation is effective April 24.
Assistant Police Chief Jerry Boyer will be appointed interim police chief. The city plans to conduct a nationwide search for Janke’s replacement.
