St. Paul, MN – The push to legalize recreational marijuana continues Tuesday at the State Capitol. Leila Fatehi with Minnesotans for Responsible Marijuana Legislation says legislation can bolster safety by removing the black market.
She says “drug dealers don’t check I-Ds, but you move something into a regulated market and you stand to lose your license as a retailer or distributor if you’re selling underage.” Minnesota House leaders and Governor Walz support recreational cannabis.
But Senate Republican Majority Leader Paul Gazelka he strongly opposes legalization. So far, 11 states and Washington, DC have legalized it.
