Winter time in general is one of those ‘I’m taking my life into my own hands’ kind of things every day here in Fargo because our roads are icy, hard to see, and just flat out dangerous. With that said, most of the highways and freeways are in pretty good shape. Our guys and gals taking care of that plowing do a pretty good job. But there are some highways way more dangerous than others. And there’s one, in particular that’s just been deemed THE DEADLIEST HIGHWAY in North Dakota
according to CBS News.
That highway is U.S. Route 2, which runs from the Montana state line east to the Red River at Grand Forks. The route connects the cities of Williston, Minot, and Grand Forks.
On average, nearly 10 people die on this stretch of road each year. Digging into why this is the deadliest stretch of highway in North Dakota its simply because of the high number of deaths. That’s the only criteria CBS News is using.
I’m new to Fargo and I haven’t been on U.S. Route 2 yet. I’m sure its probably similar to most highways but has a bad rap because there’s just been some very tragic, unfortunate accidents. I’ll head out and give it a try but I think I may wait til Spring.
