“I’m nominating LeeRoy because he’s the one who started our family career of volunteer firefighting 7 years ago. He works extremely hard around the clock to respond to calls, teach new firefighters about all the equipment, and he’s our go to guy for anything that needs fixing whether at the station or at home. Aside from working long hours at his regular job he sacrifices his time and sleep to be there whenever the pager goes off. He loves teaching kids about the trucks, tools, and how to be safe when there’s a fire. He’s a great role model on the department and for the community of Mapleton as a whole.”
