FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Monday night’s storm knocked out power to thousands of Xcel energy customers in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. At one time, more than 22,000 were affected.
Repair crews have been working around the clock to restore power. The number is shrinking but Mark Nisbet, Xcel Energy’s North Dakota manager tells KFGO News the hardest-hit areas are in West Fargo where power poles were broken and have to be replaced and on the north side of Fargo where lines running to houses were downed and will require electricians to repair and that will take more time to get power back on. He could not give a specific time when all power would be restored.
Xcel has brought in extra help from Grand forks and other cities to help with repairs. Nisbet says it has been nearly a decade since there was this widespread an outage in the Fargo area.
