FARGO, N.D. (KFGO AM) -- The Fargo City Commission has voted to change the boundaries of the downtown Renaissance Zone.
The request came from the Kilbourne Group that's redeveloping the former St.Mark's Lutheran Church it purchased last year.
The commission has agreed to remove two blocks from the Renaissance Zone so the church can be added.
State law caps the zone to a maximum of 38 blocks.
The move allows the Kilbourne Group to now apply for tax breaks for the renovation of the historic building.
City planner Joe Nigg told commissioners the two blocks taken out of the tax break zone have not had any Renaissance Zone projects:
The blocks cut includes Duffy's Tavern and Curt's Lock & Key and the Terrace East Apartments.
