Vehicle and train collide in West Fargo

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KFGO AM) -- A Fargo woman was arrested for DUI after her SUV struck a BNSF train in West Fargo.

She's identifed as 21 year old Amanda Hageman.

The crash happened around 1:40 this morning at a crossing in the 500 block of 9th street northeast, near the Magellan oil terminal.

Hageman and a passenger escaped injury but the impact ripped off the front of the Toyota.

Sargent Jason Dura tells KFGO News the westbound train and had just refueled and had not yet gained speed.

He says that likely saved the truck occupants from serious injury or death.

It's believed the truck drove through the lowered crossarms or stopped on the tracks as the crossarms came down.

The train crew was unaware it hit the vehicle.
