Tioga, N.D. (AP) -- State officials have joined leaders of the oil conglomerate hess corp. in celebrating the upgrade of the company's gas plant in Tioga.
C O O Greg Hill says the facility's upgrade has reduced flaring from between 25 and 30 percent to between 15 and 20 percent.
The company expects to reduce flaring to below 10 percent in the coming years. Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other state officials toured the facility Monday.
The company says the plant in Tioga will handle gas from other producers in addition to gas from Hess sites.
Hess is one of the top oil producers in the Bakken, producing between 80,000 and 90,000 barrels of oil per day.
Hess anticipates it will be producing 150,000 barrels per day in North Dakota by 2018.
