Minnesota senators could act on medical marijuana

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The next move in legalization of medical marijuana in Minnesota is up to the state Senate.

Senators could vote Monday to adopt a House bill that is more restrictive than theirs. That would send the bill to Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, who said last week he would sign the House legislation.

But the Senate has other options. They could opt for a conference committee to work out differences in the two bills. Or they could do nothing.

Senate sponsor Scott Dibble of Minneapolis sent a letter Sunday spelling out what he sees as shortcomings in the House bill. Dibble says the House bill covers too few conditions and people and would make it too hard to get the drug.
