MOORHEAD, Minn (KFGO-AM) - Security cameras are being added and upgraded at Moorhead’s Public Schools. The district is in the process of adding up to 500 new security cameras as part of a four year plan to upgrade all security cameras to digital cameras. The upgrade has been underway for a couple of years. The district says about 300-400 cameras have already been upgraded or added, and the remaining cameras will be installed over the next year and a half.
Administrators say the upgrades are not directly connected to a series of alleged sexual assaults involving a Moorhead High School student. “I don’t think it’s a direct response.” Assistant Superintendent Jeremy Larson said. “Each year, we review where we start with our initial cameras. We try to put them (cameras) in the most populated areas.”
Police continue looking for 18-year-old Sulejman Sulejmani. He's accused of stopping and restraining female students in a high school stairwell and demanding sexual favors. Sulejmani is facing 12 counts of criminal sexual conduct, false imprisonment and soliciting minors for sex.
