Major North Fargo summer road project delays push completion to late fall

by

FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The project engineer for reconstruction of nearly a mile of Fargo's 19th Avenue North says the work, slowed by a cold, wet spring, is six weeks behind schedule. That's not good news for the estimated 20,000 vehicles that normally use the route.

Brian Pattengale of Houston Engineering, says work that was scheduled for completion September 12, won't be done until mid to late October. He says they're "making modifications on the fly" to try speed things up.

Pattengale says, "we are very aware this impacts travelers and especially business owners along this heavily traveled cooridor and we're doing our best to accomodate all their needs and still get this project completed."

Pattengale does say work on the south lanes of 19th Avenue between 10th Street and University is taking less time than the north lanes. That's because of fewer underground utilities to deal with. Some paving may start this week on that section.

Drivers will also find 19th Avenue closed between University Drive and 16th Street, near the Fargodome, as construction crews work on that section.
