BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Former Game and Fish Department director Dean Hildebrand and longtime employee Gene Van Eeckhout have been inducted into the North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame.
Hildebrand headed Game and Fish from 1996 until his retirement in 2005. He died in 2008. He was instrumental in developing Save Our Lakes, a program that focuses on restoring at-risk fisheries.
Van Eeckhout is the agency's southeast district fisheries supervisor and a 38-year veteran of the department. He was cited for his unselfish dedication to his job and community.
The North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame is located in Garrison.
