MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- The Moorhead City Council has voted unanimously to finalize the annexation of Oakport.
There was no opposition or public comment at last night's council meeting.
Several council members praised the decision to hold off the vote.
They say efforts to answer Oakport residents' questions have paid off.
The official annexation is January 1st.
When that happens, more city services, such as police and fire protection as well as trash and recycling will be offered to those living in Oakport.
Council members say there are still things to work out including addressing whether to allow bow hunting and deciding where to put street lights.
