BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota waterfowl hunters can start taking to the fields this weekend.
The season for ducks, geese, coots and mergansers was getting underway Saturday. Nonresidents can't start hunting waterfowl in the state in another week.
Noteworthy changes in regulations this year include an increase in the daily limit of Canada geese and snow geese, and in the possession limit for most migratory birds.
State Game and Fish Department waterfowl biologist Mike Johnson says this year could be among the top 20 in terms of hunting quality. The outlook might be most favorable in the Devils Lake region.
