FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Trial is scheduled this week in the July 2012 stabbing death of a man on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. Waylon Hicks is charged in federal court with second-degree murder.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say Hicks killed Jeremiah Sage after the two left a New Town bar. The 30-year-old Sage, of Halliday, served two tours of duty with the Marines in Iraq.
He was working as a compliance officer with Three Affiliated Tribes in North Dakota. Authorities say Hicks is an enrolled member of Walker River Paiute Tribe in Nevada. A pre-trial conference is scheduled Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Bismarck.
