GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Officials with a Grand Forks events center and football stadium say the facility is on pace to make half a million dollars this year. Alerus Center executive director Cheryl Swanson says the rosy projections come on the heels of a record year in 2012, when the building made $954,000. Swanson says 126,000 people had attended events through July, including a single-event record of 20,500 fans for country music star George Strait. Next up for the facility is the North Dakota Petroleum Council meeting, which begins today. Swanson says the final numbers will depend primarily on attendance at University of North Dakota football games. Montana defeated UND 55-17 on Saturday in front of more than 9,700 fans.
