Fargo  (KFGO-AM)  Monday, Fargo City Commissioners will be asked to approve a plan that would consolidate the management operations of the Gladys Ray Emergency Shelter and Centre, Inc., Fargo's detox center, along with some other changes. The two now operate out of the same building but are managed seperately, one by the city, the other by a non-profit agency.

Police Chief Keith Ternes says the aim is to make the two facilities more effective and efficient. ternes sits a committee that has spent the past year studying the issues.

He says one of the driving forces is the number of admission, many who are being brought in on a regular basis. He says with higher use, costs have also went up.

Ternes says the plan also seeks to come up with a referral system that staff can use to access support for those with chronic chemical dependency and mental health issues. Ternes says a "pay-to-stay" fee for those using the facilities will also be looked at.
